I phoned Grampian Police at 16.56 on Friday 12/2/2010 and asked to speak to Chief Constable McKerracher. After a while I was put through to his office where a woman told me that he was off duty. I therefore asked her to ask McKerracher to return my call asap. She then asked me “in connection with what”. I told her it was about Mr Green wo the Grmapian Police had arrested and were holding. She was unable to confirm or deny this. When I asked her whether McKerracher would return my call or not her answer (parroted) was: “The Chief Constable does not phone people on specifics”. I informed her that I took that to mean that he would not return my call. She did not demur. I also made it clear to her that I was noting everything she said and got her to agree with my notations by reading them back.
I then asked her to make a note of the following statement and to give it to McKerracher: “I put Chief Constable McKerracher on Notice that if Robert Green is assualted or injected whilst in Police custody I will hold Chief Constable McKerracher personally responsible”. And the asked her if she had got that written down which she said she had. I then asked her to give it McKerracher asap and bade her farewell.
I now propose to send a blind copy of the above to Robert’s MP in Cheshire to activate him and the same goes for the leader of the Scottish Conservative Party, Annabel Goldie (another lawyer, it is almost superfluous to add!). Your names will not appear on this e-mail to the MP and MSP.
